Our favorite crafts recap

In an attempt to inspire our creative sides and to celebrate our blog's six month birthday (it was on July 1... oops), we have decided to review some of our favorite crafts we have done so far on a clover & a bee!  Bleach Dipped Plaid Button Up- we got really excited about bleach for awhile there...My dorm smelled constantly of bleach. This bleach dipped plaid shirt turned out really well and we got a good laugh because people thought that I was pregnant due to some odd camera angles...

Glitter Dipped Mason Jars- we love all things shiny and involving mason jars (usually) so making a glitter dipped mason jar seemed inevitable. We loved the ways it turned out-Our toothbrushes look so fancy in it! Bleach Dipped Levi Shorts-Its true, we pretty much live in our Levi shorts. Thus the need to own several pairs that look slightly different so we experimented with bleach and added a few studs. Cute right? Cat Print Dress-We don't own a cat and may be slightly allergic, but cats are just to cute to leave out of the crafting fun. we used an apple to print little cat heads all over one of our dresses and love the way it turned out. Heart Print Table Cloth- During our Valentines themed week we made our own heart print table cloth using, you guessed it, an apple! This process of printing is our new favorite. Embroidered Cocktail Napkins- Wiping your face is so much more fun when wiping it with cute fabric with adorable phrases hand stitched into them. Its true, this is a real testimony. This was such a simple DIY for making your table just a little cuter. Crochet Skirt- In the winter we lived in these crochet skirts! They are adorable paired with a big chunky sweater and some tights. Turns out they are also pretty simple to make (that is if you have atleast some sewing experience!) glitter dipped mason jar diy

The moving process continues! It feels as though things are slowly coming together. Little decorations pop up here and there even though there are still big blank walls and open spaces left. Over the weekend we made this little glitter dipped mason Jar for my toothbrush. Erin already had spray painted hers, so we wanted to make one that matched.

You'll Need: Mod Podge, painters tape, glitter, a mason jar, a paint brush, and a small bowl.





This ended up being incredibly easy to make. All we did was put a ring of tape around the outside of the jar and mix up a bowl of mod podge and glitter (this prevents you from getting glitter all over your house...). We then painted on the glitter glue mixture, peeled off the tape, and turned it upside down to dry. We think it ended up being really cute! And they look so good next to each other in our bathroom.

We can't wait to see what little decorations we'll think of next. We'll be sure to share them!

the start of a new adventure

I think it is safe to say, you never realize how much crap you own until it comes time to moving. We have already taken over 3 truck loads full of our junk and still have plenty left to go. But our apartment is really coming along!

We got our keys over the weekend and have been slaving away at packing, carrying, and unpacking. It really is a nice brain break from the stress of school though to be able to escape over to our little apartment. We have had so much fun so far working together to make sure that it looks perfect.

You can expect plenty of DIY's coming your way for decorating your apartment, plenty of advice as we learn how to properly decorate a rental space, and lots of food posts as well (since we will finally have a kitchen!!). We can't wait to see what this new leaf of our live will bring us and are so excited to have you along for the ride!

DIY recycled sweater pillow

Not going to lie, we were going to share some pretty awesome shorts that we made today, but for some reason it just felt wrong to share something so springy and fun on such a cold and miserable day. I swear, Kansas likes to fool us all. Plus the shorts are still wet from the wash last night and it would have been pretty uncomfortable to model them to take cute pictures. So instead we bring you the recycled sweater pillow.

This craft is great for when spring finally hits (or hit at one point and turned back into winter) and you are able to go through your winter sweaters and decide to get rid of some.

You'll need: An old sweater, scissors, a sewing machine, and stuffing.




You'll first need to take your sweater and lay it out flat on the ground (or if you live in a real home with a work table, lay it flat there) and cut across the front of the sweater right under the sleeves.

I then sewed along the opening with the buttons to ensure that no stuffing would come sneaking out of in between them once it was finished.

Then turn your sweater inside out and sew along the top and the bottom. Make sure to leave a hole on one corner for a place to add the stuffing. Next turn it inside out, stuff it, and sew up your hole!



^^don't fret! Your favorite old sweater will be just as snuggly once in pillow form!^^

Erin and I have a horrible habit of stopping in to our favorite stores downtown as soon as we have access to a car and are within a mile radius. I don't know what it is, perhaps some gravitational pull or weird need deep down in our hearts to spend all of our money.

This weekend after we signed our lease to our new apartment, we were driving home and Erin said, "we could... go to the et cetera shop..." So we go. Then I strategically parked the car right in front of our favorite vintage store so that we would have to stop in on the way back. It is just the way it goes.

Here are some of the awesome things we found whilst on our adventure.

Because of our recent investment in an apartment we have spent countless hours imagining what it will look like. In a perfect world, our apartment would magically look like a nice compilation of all these inspirational pictures. Sadly, it is not a perfect world and we don't have unlimited amounts of money. But we are excited to decorate with the stuff we have as well as grabbing a few more "reasonable" things on our wishlist.

#1. The perfect vintage couch. Forget those big poofy reclining couches you can find at Ashley's Furniture, we want a couch with buttons and flowers. Ideally we would find one that is a fun color (green, blue, pink, orange?) that has as much character as possible for less two hundred dollars. Dream big, eh? #2. A small round dining room table. Ideally it would be white, but of course we could paint it in the end. Our kitchen is pretty tiny though, so we don't want it to be too large.

#3. Small kitchen accessories. We still need a few things to cook with yet. We haven't been able to compile these while living in the dorms, sadly they lack kitchens. Ladles, spatulas, a large soup pot, vegetable steamer, rice cooker, crock pot, cookie sheets, knives, a microwave, as well as some other dish ware. In a dream world this list would contain a kitchen aid mixer... Specific items we are drooling over: 1//2//3

#4. Patio furniture. We would like to be able to sit outside as much as possible, and we have been loving the idea of getting old metal chairs to put out on our little patio. Here are some cute ones that are kind of what we are looking for: 1//2

The trouble with moving into our first apartment is that we want to buy everything cute and adorable but we are slowly realizing that that may not be entirely possible with our budgets. So we are sticking to the necessities first.
