We decided to keep our itinerary pretty open for the trip to keep it feeling more like a vacation. One of the two major events we did plan though was a trip out to the redwoods. The nine of us piled into two cars and drove up into the mountains to see the tall spectacular trees.
We hiked around Grant Grove, home of the general grant tree, and admired the large touring trees for awhile. A few of us stayed on the trails, reading all of the signs and meandering slowly, while some of us scattered into the trees for some tree hugging shenanigans.
We packed a picnic for lunch, which we ate spread out in the woods on the side of a hill. We had packed sandwiches, summer sausage, kettle chips, strawberries, blueberries, and a little bit of wine. We felt pretty silly sipping our wine out of paper cups but it was an incredibly enjoyable experience.
For the end of our adventure we drove out to a scenic point and hiked along the trail. We spent a long time climbing around on the large rock formations and giggling with each other, while enjoying the amazing view. It was a really beautiful day.
