glass terrarium DIY

I am always finding new ways to arrange my succulents and creating new excuses to buy even more succulents, so of course I was eventually drawn to making my own terrarium :) . I have been ogling over all of the beautiful glass terrariums from moorea seal and urban outfitters for quite some time, so I was pretty excited when I found this hexagonal beauty at a vintage store down town for only 4 bucks! Isn't it gorgeous? I also found a small one to store my jewelry in on my dresser that is pretty adorable.

To build my terrarium I simply bought some aquarium rocks and grabbed a bag of soil and started layering them. I tried to do them slightly at an angle to add more visual interest. You could also add small layers of colorful rocks to add some color into your terrarium! I cut off some babies from some of my older succulent plants to put inside, though I was pretty tempted to buy one of these succulent flats... I avoided the temptation though... for now, go me! DIY glitter star wrapping paper

Ah, the Christmas season is here! I seem to feel differently about it depending on the day.. some days I am excited, some days I am pretty indifferent, and others I am panicking and trying to figure out gifts. Luckily though I had the perfect idea for wrapping gifts this year. I gathered up some craft paper, mod podge, and gold glitter and got to work. I first cut the amount of craft paper that I needed to wrap my moms gift with. I created a stencil by cutting a star out of a cereal box. Using a sponge, I applied the mod podge inside my stencil in a regular pattern on my craft paper. I sprinkled glitter onto my stars as I went. After letting it dry I wrapped it up and tied a bow with ribbon! It turned out so cute! Definitely the cutest wrapped gift I have ever created. Warning though... your hands will be messy by the time you are finished!! How are you wrapping your gifts this year? -a clover & a bee

With our Friendsgiving coming up we knew it was time for a nice set of napkins to set out on the table. I had made a set of embroidered cocktail napkins before, but this time I knew it was time for larger sized napkins. Our little apartment only allows for a small table that seats four, so we figured four napkins would be the perfect number! Plus it would always be easy to make more! I got the fabric at Joann's Fabrics. I knew I wanted to have a colored side, a black and white side, and that I didn't want any of the napkins to look exactly the same. I grabbed four different fat quarter fabrics and a yard of gingham fabric and set off to work. I cut a square out of each fat quarter and four squares out of my gingham fabric and sewed them up with my sewing machine. I then picked out some embroidery floss and did a blanket stitch all the way the around each napkin. Didn't they turn out adorable? What fabrics/color scheme would you use? -a clover & a bee

DIY coffee filter peonies

I had been looking for some sort of nice looking paper or fabric flower to make for about forever when I finally found this DIY to make coffee filter peonies. Finally, a paper flower that actually sort of looked real at first glance! I quickly got to work following their DIY, though I chose to leave my gold wire uncovered. I love the way white and gold look together, don't you?
These coffee filter peonies were so easy to make and they look spectacular. Professor thought they were pretty interesting too... I think they will make another great addition to our table for Friendsgiving. It's only a few days away!

A few weeks ago, on our first big Joann's Fabrics run (that place is seriously heaven to a crafter), we saw these beautiful wood slices and instantly fell in love... we might be crazy. I had always wanted to make my own, but buying it from them just seemed so much easier! Plus they hand out coupons like nobody's business so we were able to get a pretty good deal on it.  Once we had it home in our tiny apartment we knew what we had to do-combine our new love of wood slices with our love of chalkboard paint. It turned out beautifully, did it not? We were thinking it would make the perfect addition to the center of our table for our Friendsgiving coming up. This is our first year hosting a Friendsgiving and we are just so excited! (like the pun on our wood slice?) Though this will be the perfect centerpiece for Friendsgiving, it can also serve so many other functions! What would you write on it? -a clover & a bee check out our other chalkboard projects here

DIY lavender lip scrub

It has been ages since we have made a beauty product of some sort on our blog, so we figured it was about time! Our first attempt was with our Moisturizing Coffee Scrub, which turned out to be pretty delightful. This lavender lip scrub was actually really easy and it makes your lips so smooth and taste delicious! Plus we had this adorable little flower jar that needed to have something in it. In a mason jar we mixed up approximately a half a cup of coconut oil, a half cup of sugar, and a couple drops of lavender essential oil (though you could use any essential oil you wanted). We have been keeping a large amount of the scrub tucked away in a mason jar, but put a little in our flower jar to put out on display. Isn't it adorable? What essential oil would you use for your lip scrub? -a clover & a bee

DIY lunar necklace

We were so inspired by Yesterday's Sweetheart's use of hardware store materials to make beautiful jewelry that we just had to check it out for ourselves. I felt a little bit silly walking around looking for heavy duty materials to make silly little bracelets and necklaces, but ... who cares anyways? I ended up finding these tiny brass tubes that I knew would work perfect for making beads. My boyfriends brother just so happened to have a tiny saw that would work to cut them up, so he lent it to me for an evening. I cut the tubes up into varying sized beads and sanded them down. We found these adorable white beads at Joann's Fabric and Crafts. They reminded us so much of tiny little moons-we love anything lunar inspired! We strung our brass beads and our lunar beads onto some string and added a lobster-claw necklace closer. We couldn't be happier! We even had a few extra beads to make a bracelet with! How would you style this necklace? -a clover & a bee
